About
Chiltern Deer is run by James Cherry. James was born and raised in the Chiltern Hills, where he still lives with his family amongst the landscapes and wildlife that first sparked his fascination as a boy.
For more than twenty years he has been passionately involved with deer, both as a stalker and dedicated observer of Britain’s wild herds. Much of his time is spent in the woods and fields of the Chilterns, watching and learning the habits of roe, fallow, muntjac and red deer through the changing seasons.
Alongside life in the field, James is an avid reader and writer on all things deer-related, with interests spanning deer behaviour, stalking, natural history, countryside traditions and the enduring relationship between deer and man in the British landscape.
Above all, Chiltern Deer reflects a lifelong appreciation for the British countryside, its wildlife, and the old traditions of fieldcraft, stewardship and rural life that continue to shape it today.
